Paintings

With a lifelong love of art and all things creative, Sandy Martin draws inspiration from the flora of Gippsland, Victoria and her own extensive gardens.  A trained horticulturist, the environment has been the focus of her working life, her hobbies and now influencing her art.

Having commenced painting seriously in 2005, Sandy is predominantly self taught and will spend hours trying to recreate the beauty of Mother Nature.  Working from her country studio she has ready access to a wide range of plant species and will often lose herself in a painting, forgetting the problems of the outside world. Like a lot of people, art has proven to be particularly therapeutic throughout the years, in particular during the isolation of COVID lockdowns.

Sandy has participated in group exhibitions in her hometown of Sale, Gippsland with her work in high demand throughout the region; she looks forward to continuing her journey with floral art in the medium of oils and expanding her experience with Australian native birds and animals in pastels.

Sandy enjoys getting out in the great outdoors of Gippsland to photograph amazing flora and fauna for reference material which ensures all her art works are original.
